Medical Student, Tulane University

I'm currently attending Tulane School of Medicine in New Orleans, LA. My background in anthropology has been invaluable to me as a medical student in New Orleans, a city full of energy and culture, yet also in strong need of public health attention. For instance, the interviewing skills and cultural awareness I developed through studying anthropology has equipped me with confidence when interacting with the diverse group of patients at a local homeless shelter, where I currently lead a free HIV testing program. Furthermore, my specific interest in applied anthropology, which grew throughout my time at Â鶹´«Ã½, has translated into my current engagement in a research project on empowerment and participation among community health workers.
